Code of Conduct

Cheddar Valley Youth Hockey Club is fully committed to safe-guarding and promoting the well-being of all its members. The Club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators, managers, and parents/guardians associated with the Club should at all time show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. The Club has high expectations of members both on the pitch and at the pitch side. Code of Conduct for Members

  • All members must play within the rules and respect officials and their decisions.
  • Do not use inappropriate language.
  • All members must respect each other and their opponents.
  • Members must be punctual for training/matches/tournaments or inform their coach/team manager if they are going to be late or absent.
  • Members must wear suitable clothing at training sessions if possible CVYHC polo-shirts at matches.
  • Members must pay any fees for training or events promptly and complete a medical questionnaire.
  • Members must not chew gum at training or matches.
  • Members must not go on pitches before the arrival of the club coach/manager.

Code of Conduct for Parents/Guardians

  • Never force your child to take part in sport.
  • Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy their hockey.
  • Do not use inappropriate language.
  • Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them.
  • Publicly accept official’s judgement.
  • Discourage unfair play.
  • Applaud good play by either team.
  • Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.
  • Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.

The parents will be contacted by the committee if action is required either verbally or in writing. CVYHC reserve the right to omit player(s) should they be in breach of the Code of Conduct from team selection. CVYHC reserve the right to permanently exclude a player from the Club for a serious breach of the Code of Conduct or bringing the reputation of the Club into disrepute.
